About this property

Welcome to Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Gaslamp/Convention Center

Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Gaslamp/Convention Center offers casual, modern rooms, many of which feature city views. The property is housed in a historical building previously used as a bank, blending preserved architectural elements with contemporary design. Most guests find the rooms clean and well-appointed, though some note that room sizes are on the smaller side and the beds somewhat firm.

Facilities include an on-site restaurant and a popular rooftop cocktail bar, The Nolen Rooftop, known for its inviting atmosphere and skyline vistas. While the breakfast offerings are more limited compared to other locations, the bistro provides a quiet spot for morning coffee. Guests often praise the friendly and attentive staff, highlighting helpful service especially during busy events and conferences.

Situated in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, the hotel benefits from close proximity to major attractions such as Petco Park, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and the USS Midway Museum. The vibrant neighborhood provides a wide array of dining and entertainment options. The San Diego International Airport is conveniently reachable within a 15-minute drive.

The location’s appeal is well reflected in guest reviews, with many appreciating the ease of access to downtown venues and nightlife. The location is perfect. We were attending a wedding at Venue 808 and the Courtyard is a 3-minute walk to the venue. Front desk staff are friendly and courteous. She found a room for us to check-in early. The hotel is very clean and modern. Our room is immaculate and spacious. Valet parking is expensive but I guess it’s typical for a downtown property. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Couldn’t ask for a better location in downtown. Rooms were really nice. Love having the bistro for a quick coffee and every interaction with the staff was fantastic. This is my new go to spot in San Diego!

We stayed here for a meeting and conference. We had some very long days but the staff here always made me feel welcomed, appreciated as a guest, and it had some nice offerings. The rooftop bar is a popular place and serves great cocktails. It’s centrally located and a great location if you’re going to a game or concert. Eva was my favorite because she was professional, kind, and remembered my preferences. I would definitely stay here again.

Very expensive but pretty nice. Make sure you add the valet at check out bc for some reason it was way cheaper. Also, life hack, the parking garage across the street is like $10 24/7 so if you don’t wanna pay valet and don’t mind carrying your bags go there

Loved the location. So much to see and do in the gaslamp quarters. Restaurants with all types of cuisine to choose from. The best steak houses and so much history. The hotel itself is a historical building. It used to be a bank and everything is beautifully preserved. Bed was a little stiff for my liking but was so tired from walking around that I still managed to sleep well. Rooms are small but clean. Water pressure in the shower is a plus also. Friendly staff from the Valet gentlemen- greeters to the front desk and even the bartenders. Great place to stay.

Convenient location w short walk to convention center. Really nice rooftop bar and lounge w nice views. It’s not super obvious when you walk in where the breakfast cafe is on level 2, but once u figure that out it’s a quiet spot to get ready for the day. Their cafe doesn’t have as much breakfast offerings as other Courtyards I’ve been too, and they don’t serve drinks like other courtyards which is always convenient when there are private events on the roof, but u can grab a beer from the small shop near check-in if that’s ur jam. I like that the rooms here have a little bit of carpet around the bed for a more comfortable feel, as some of the newer Bonvoy formats don’t anymore. I also like the little window seat for catching up on emails, etc, w a view. All the service team here was super friendly and helpful.

I found this hotel to be an absolutely fantastic stay. While the rooms were small, the hotel is well appointed, modern, and functional despite the small rooms. I could see the size being hard for some, but for 1 person for a week, or two people with carry on bags you'll be fine. The bed is a bit hard, which is why I gave the room a 4 star, and there was a minor engineering issue, but I find those in all the hotels I stay in. I thought the common spaces and room compared to other courtyards that I've stayed at in a city is appointed significantly better and very clean. Additionally, the free citrus water, absolutely delightful staff (a woman with glasses that seems to have the night shift is AMAZING). The location is perfect and very central to everything. I can understand if someone had a room facing the nightclub it could be an issue, thankfully my room didn't. Friday and Saturday would seem to be the loud days. Something to consider if you're a light sleeper or not going out at night with the bar/club scene. Again -- the staff make it my new go to hotel. Whoever is training the staff -- bravo! Even the restaurant person coming off their shift were incredibly nice, which says a lot with everyone from Comic Con.

This hotel is amazing at the heart of the gaslamp district. We traveled with my 3 year old and as hectic as that can be, Eva P. Was so helpful in accommodating us and making us feel at home. Thank you for going the extra mile!
